Audi engine conversion for the Elise and Exige
This conversion has the potential to give the Elise driver the power they have yearned for. The conversion is based on the VW/Audi/SEAT range of 20 valve turbo engines and 6 speed gearboxes.
There are 2 performance levels available with a 3rd in development.

The overall weight increases by about 40 kg but the engine is mounted 50 mm lower and 40 mm further forward. Therefore the overall weight distribution only changes by 2%. With the right dampers and spring rates it is difficult to detect any change in the handling.
The turbo's used have low lag and the ECU has anti-lag software so that throttle response is rapid. The engine has masses of torque and a wide power band from 3000 to over 6500.
For details on conversion prices please contact Auto-Teknix. Bear in mind that you can get £300 to £1500 back on your old K series engine depending on spec. A demo car with 250 BHP is always available for test drives. A 300 BHP race car is competing in the mid engined sportscar series for the last three years and also other races driven by Matt Cummings/Tony Doe. The car has had a couple of wins and many podium finishes. In the races so far we have not had single engine problem. Passenger rides in this car could be arranged at a track day. A 300+ BHP road going car is often available for demonstration. |
